Barcola's move to Merseyside comes after three highly successful seasons in Paris, during which he emerged as one of the most exciting attacking players in European football. Across 152 appearances for PSG, the 23-year-old contributed 39 goals and 35 assists, helping the club claim a string of major trophies, including back-to-back Champions League titles and three straight Ligue 1 championships.
Barcola started his senior career at Lyon, debuting for the first team in November 2021. Over 47 appearances there, he tallied seven goals and 11 assists before his move to PSG in August 2023.
He has also become a regular fixture for the French national team since debuting in June 2024, netting six goals in 28 caps so far.
