PSG’s victory followed its successful defence of the UEFA Champions League title for a second consecutive season, after defeating English club Arsenal 4–3 on penalties in the final. The match was held in Budapest, the Hungarian capital, on May 30, following a 1–1 draw after regular and extra time.
The French club prevailed over four other nominees: English side Arsenal, Germany’s Bayern Munich, Norway’s Bodø/Glimt and Brazil’s Flamengo, retaining the award it won in 2025.
During the 2025–2026 season, Paris Saint-Germain won the French league title alongside the UEFA Champions League. The club also added the UEFA Super Cup, the Intercontinental Cup and the French Super Cup to its honours, continuing its run of domestic, continental and international titles under Spanish coach Luis Enrique.
Paris Saint-Germain also won the 2026 UEFA Super Cup after defeating English club Aston Villa, further strengthening its record of achievements. The club had 10 players nominated for the men’s Ballon d’Or, a record number for the club in a single edition.
The men’s club award is part of the Ballon d’Or honours presented by France Football in partnership with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It recognises clubs that achieve outstanding results during the football season.
With its 2026 victory, Paris Saint-Germain became the second club to win the award in two consecutive years, following English club Manchester City, which claimed it in 2022 and 2023.
