The World Cross-Country Cup, which includes Jordan Baja, consists of eight rounds, with the Rally of Italy added to the championship calendar. Saudi Arabia will host the opening round from February 3 to 5, followed by Greece for the third round from June 4 to 6. Italy will host the fourth round from July 16 to 18, while Spain will stage the fifth round from September 10 to 12.

Portugal will host the sixth round from November 4 to 6, followed by Qatar for the seventh round from November 18 to 20. The championship will conclude with the eighth round in the UAE from December 3 to 5.

The Middle East Cross-Country Cup, which includes Jordan Baja, comprises five rounds, with Oman Baja added to the calendar. The opening round will take place from February 3 to 5. Oman will host the third round from November 4 to 6, followed by Qatar for the fourth round from November 18 to 20. The championship will conclude with the fifth round in the UAE from December 3 to 5.

These decisions were made during a meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council held online the day before yesterday, attended by FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem and several council members from the federation’s offices in Knightsbridge, London.

Desert rallying championships are set to undergo significant technological development, including the introduction of a new generation of vehicles approved by the World Motor Sport Council.

The council also approved amendments to the sporting regulations for the FIA World Cross-Country Rally Championship. Under the changes, the starting positions of drivers classified in the priority category will automatically be reordered for the second stage, under a system similar to that used in the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship.

The council also approved a series of measures paving the way for a new phase in FIA rallying championships and competitions held on closed roads.
A new rally category, “Rally 6,” has been introduced at the base of the rallying pyramid to provide an accessible, low-cost entry point into the sport.

The new category represents an important step in the FIA’s commitment to reducing financial barriers for participants, strengthening grassroots motorsport and creating a clear development pathway for the next generation of rally drivers worldwide.

Based on the World Motor Sport Council’s recommendations, regional rally championships, including the Middle East Rally Championship, of which Jordan hosts one FIA-sanctioned round, will undergo their most extensive update to sporting regulations in nearly 10 years, following specialist consultations with the relevant clubs.

The amendments aim to simplify and harmonize regulations across different championships, bringing them into closer alignment with current operational practices.

Organizational requirements will also be simplified, while the FIA’s identity and presence across regional rally championships will be strengthened.
