Amman — Jordan’s women’s national football team dropped three places in the latest FIFA world rankings released yesterday, falling to 79th globally. The decline followed its results during the recent international break, when it lost to Armenia and drew with Indonesia.اضافة اعلان

The drop came after the national team played two friendly matches without securing a win, missing an opportunity to improve its ranking as women’s football in Jordan seeks to strengthen its international presence.

Jordan lost 2–1 to Armenia before drawing with Indonesia during a training camp held in Aqaba. Both results affected the team’s position in the latest rankings.

The decline highlights the need to assess the team’s performance in its recent friendlies. Such matches provide opportunities to improve technical readiness, test the coaching staff’s available options, and increase ranking points to improve the team’s position internationally.

Maintaining a relatively strong position in the Asian rankings is also important, reflecting the development of women’s football in Jordan and its ability to compete. International matches offer valuable opportunities to gain experience and secure positive results against teams with different footballing styles.

FIFA’s women’s rankings are based on a system that considers match results, the importance of each game, the strength of the competing teams and the difference in their levels. As a result, every match can affect the standings, leaving Jordan with the challenge of regaining the places it lost in the latest update.

Led by Moroccan coach Lamia Boumehdi, the national team hopes to restore confidence among sports fans and improve its results following a series of setbacks in recent years. These include missing the last two editions of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup finals and struggling to secure positive results against teams ranked higher in the world standings.
