Gianni Infantino, president of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), is facing fresh questions over financial transparency following reports that he received additional payments totaling $1.76 million from a US company linked to the organization of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.اضافة اعلان

The British newspaper The Times reported that documents filed with the US Internal Revenue Service showed that FWC2026 US Inc. paid the amount to Infantino, in addition to the compensation and bonuses he received from FIFA during the same year.

FIFA’s annual report stated that Infantino received approximately 4.27 million Swiss francs, equivalent to around £3.88 million, in 2024. However, the additional payments listed in the US documents were not included in his publicly reported total compensation.

The disclosures have raised questions about FIFA’s compliance with financial transparency rules, particularly as its regulations require the organization’s president’s compensation to be disclosed.

Miguel Maduro, former chairman of FIFA’s Governance Committee, said that if the additional payments were made to Infantino by entities linked to FIFA and were not disclosed, this would constitute a clear breach of the rules. He called for an investigation into the matter.

The documents showed that the payment from the US company included $626,229 classified as “other reportable compensation,” alongside other components of the financial package.

Media reports also quoted a source familiar with the matter as saying that Infantino may have received similar or larger payments in 2025 and 2026. However, these figures have not been presented as confirmed amounts in published reports.

The case has also drawn attention to Infantino’s stay at a luxury home in Miami during preparations for the World Cup. Reports raised questions about whether the additional payments may have been connected to his accommodation expenses, but no conclusive evidence has been presented to establish that the funds were used for this purpose.

In response, a statement attributed to a FIFA spokesperson said the president’s compensation and other contractual benefits are governed by procedures set by the relevant committee, and that related financial obligations are disclosed in accordance with applicable US legal requirements.

As the controversy continues, questions remain over why the additional amount did not appear in Infantino’s publicly reported 2024 compensation and whether the payments were subject to the required disclosure procedures.

No court ruling or official decision has established that Infantino committed a violation. The case remains focused on allegations concerning financial transparency and disclosure mechanisms within FIFA.
