Abu Laila was injured during Al-Hussein's last match against Al-Faisaly in the Pro League, which ended in a 1-0 win for Al-Hussein.
The source told Al Mamlaka TV that the medical reports showed an injury to Abu Laila's adductor muscle.
The source added that further medical tests will be carried out in the coming days to determine whether Abu Laila will require surgery or physiotherapy treatment.
Abu Laila's injury comes nearly two months before the Asian Cup scheduled for early January 2027 in Saudi Arabia, raising doubts about whether the World Cup-bound Nashama goalkeeper will be able to recover in time for the tournament.
Abu Laila is one of the top goalkeepers in domestic football. He began his career with Shabab Al-Ordon before representing Al-Faisaly and Al-Hussein, winning several titles with both clubs, the most recent being the domestic treble with Al-Hussein last season, winning the Pro League, the Jordan Cup, and the Super Cup.
The 33-year-old goalkeeper also had a professional spell with Saudi club Al-Jabalain on loan during the 2023-2024 season.
Internationally, Abu Laila made his first appearance for the national team in 2017, and since then has played 79 international matches, starting 75 of them, keeping a clean sheet in 29 of them. He was a key member of the national team during its Asian Cup runners-up campaign and the most recent Arab Cup, alongside participating in the 2026 World Cup.
