Amman — The 2026 Amman Asian Open Judo Championship opened on Wednesday at the Sports Palace in Al-Hussein Youth City, with 354 male and female athletes representing 28 countries competing across the men’s, women’s and junior categories.

The championship will continue through Thursday. Amman will then host the Asian Cup for cadets and juniors from October 31 to November 3.
On the opening day, several winners were crowned. Rana Al-Saeed, Secretary-General of the Jordan Olympic Committee, and Sultan Al-Awamleh, President of the Jordan Judo Federation, presented the awards to the top finishers in the under-52 kg and under-73 kg weight categories.
