China defeated the United States in the women’s team final at the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the Netherlands on Wednesday, handing the Americans their first defeat since 2010.

China needed a score of 12.600 on the final apparatus, the floor exercise, to secure victory. Zhu Qi Yuan sealed the win with a score of 12.833.
China finished the team competition with a total of 165.764 points, narrowly ahead of the United States, which scored 165.531 a margin of just 0.233 points. Japan claimed the bronze medal with 164.063 points.
The victory marked China’s first women’s team title at the championships since 2006.
China, Japan and the United States have all qualified for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
