SANA reported that a civilian with a disability was killed on Thursday by Israeli occupation forces during their incursion into the village of Jamlah in the western countryside of Daraa.
The agency said Israeli forces deployed in one of the village’s neighborhoods and positioned snipers on the roofs of residential buildings as they moved through the area, which came under artillery fire on Wednesday evening.
Syria has accused Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through repeated incursions into the country’s south, raids on residents’ homes and arrests, along with artillery shelling, land-clearing operations and the cutting down of trees.
In recent days, Israeli forces have also carried out land-clearing operations across large olive groves in Quneitra province, which borders Daraa.
SANA reported on Monday that Israeli occupation forces had cleared about 13 dunums of olive groves on Sunday near the village of Saida in southern Quneitra countryside, while preventing residents from reaching other fields to harvest their olive crops.
The village is the last inhabited locality bordering the area into which Israeli occupation forces have advanced and where they are constructing fortifications, raising concerns among local residents.
In a statement on Sunday, Syria’s Foreign Ministry condemned what it described as an escalation in Israeli occupation incursions into Quneitra province and the Daraa countryside, calling them a “blatant violation” of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
