The message said the decision was made in line with directives from the Ministry of Education, noting that this was the second time a similar measure had been introduced in the capital in less than a month.

The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation announced shortly after midnight between Saturday and Sunday that 12 people had died and 309 others were injured in the attack.

The authority said in a statement that the fatalities included four Saudi nationals, two Bangladeshi nationals, and one national each from Jordan, the United States, Egypt, Syria, Palestine and Sudan.

It added that the injured were receiving the necessary medical care at several hospitals, including some in critical condition. The authority said the material damage caused by the attack was still being assessed.

Saudi authorities suspended operations at King Khalid International Airport following the attack, which resulted in injuries.
