Manchester City defied playing a man down and continued their perfect start to the Premier League season, securing a valuable, deserved win over hosts and arch-rivals Manchester United.

City settled the Manchester derby with a 1-0 win over United on Sunday, in the standout fixture of Matchday 4 of the topflight, at Old Trafford, the home of the club nicknamed the "Red Devils."
Manchester City, playing their first derby against United without Spanish coach Josep Guardiola in 10 years, were reduced to 10 men after a controversial red card for star player Phil Foden in the 23rd minute, following a coming-together with Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes.
The match's only goal came from Norwegian star Erling Haaland in the 60th minute, with Manchester United's players unable to find an equalizer for the remainder of the match.
With that result, Manchester City, looking to reclaim the title that eluded them the past two seasons, moved to 12 points, maintaining a perfect record so far after winning all four of their opening matches this season, sitting second, only on goal difference behind league leaders and defending champions Arsenal, who are level on points.
Manchester United, meanwhile, who haven't won the title since the 2012-2013 season, continued their disappointing start to the campaign, remaining stuck on 4 points in 13th place.
It's worth noting that this was the first derby City have played under Italian head coach Enzo Maresca, who took charge following Guardiola's departure at the end of last season.
