UNRWA: Gaza Aid Falls Far Short of the Humanitarian Catastrophe
The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, affirmed that the amount of aid being sent to Gaza is vastly inadequate compared to the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the Strip.اضافة اعلان

According to UNRWA’s official website, Lazzarini stated in a press release on Saturday that “famine in Gaza can be stopped if there is political will. What we are asking for is not impossible.” He called for enabling the United Nations to fulfill its role in delivering aid to those in need and protecting their dignity.

On Friday, Lazzarini noted that 900 aid trucks had entered Gaza over the past two weeks—representing only 10% of the daily needs of the population. He stressed that halting the current famine requires strong political will.

He urged that UN agencies and humanitarian organizations be allowed to resume operations in Gaza, especially after the suspension of aid truck entry since March 2.

Lazzarini pointed out that during the previous ceasefire, UNRWA and other organizations were able to bring in 600 to 800 aid trucks daily, highlighting the urgent need to return to such levels of assistance.
