Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar stated on Wednesday that Iran has ceased uranium enrichment since the 2025 war, contradicting recent assertions by U.S. President Donald Trump.

Speaking at a meeting with members of the "American Friends of Likud" association, Sa'ar said: "Iran was planning to move its nuclear program deep underground, which is what compelled us to take the decision to go to war."
He continued: "Regime change in Iran was not a declared objective; rather, our plan focuses on eliminating its threats." He added, "Changing the Iranian regime is not in our hands."
Sa'ar further elaborated: "We do not have a plan for a ground operation in Iran, but if a clear opportunity for regime change arises, we will act upon it." He explained that Israel's strategy relies on other tools for deterrence and confrontation, avoiding the costs of a direct ground invasion that could plunge the region into "uncalculated chaos."
