Jordan Valley Authority Secretary-General Engineer Hisham Al-Haisa said the recently signed cloud-seeding project with the US government in the area of the Unity Dam is based on the best available methodologies, with rainfall to be measured through specialized monitoring stations in the targeted area.

Al-Haisa made the remarks in response to a question from Al-Ghad during an interactive meeting of the Government Communication Forum on Tuesday.
Regarding Syria, Al-Haisa said Jordan has a joint technical committee with the Syrian side, noting that Jordan had previously been treated unfairly regarding its water rights.
He added that work is currently underway on two projects. The first involves studying and developing the Yarmouk Basin from the Jordanian side, while the second is being carried out from the Syrian side. The two studies will then be combined as a basis for amending the 1987 agreement.
