Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the joint war waged by Israel and the United States against Iran had “crushed” its nuclear and missile programs.
In a televised address, Netanyahu stated, “We succeeded in crushing Iran’s nuclear program and its missile program,” adding that the war had also weakened Iranian leadership and its regional allies.
He continued, “They wanted to choke us, and now we are choking them. They threatened to crush us, and now they are fighting for their survival,” noting that Israel had killed eight scientists in Iran linked to its nuclear program.
Netanyahu’s remarks came as the White House announced that direct talks between Iranian and U.S. delegations were ongoing in Islamabad, aiming to reach a settlement to end the war.
A White House official said the negotiations were “continuing,” after Iranian state television reported that two rounds of talks had already been held, with a possible third round expected later that night or the following day.
According to Iran’s state broadcaster, efforts were underway to narrow the gap in the U.S.–Iran talks, while noting that Washington continued to present what it described as “excessive” demands during the negotiations.
