In a press statement, the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said:
“This morning, a humanitarian aid convoy entered Syrian territory through the Nasib border crossing, consisting of 41 trucks loaded with food supplies, flour, and medicines provided by Jordan and Qatar. The aid will be distributed to those affected by the recent tragic events in Sweida city and its countryside, as well as to displaced persons in shelters within Daraa Governorate.”

The ministry added:
“We express our deep gratitude and appreciation to Jordan and Qatar for this fraternal initiative, which reflects the spirit of cooperation and solidarity among brothers, and we reaffirm the depth of Arab ties in facing difficult humanitarian conditions.”

The ministry explained that this initiative comes within the framework of Arab support for the Syrian government’s efforts to alleviate the suffering of Syrian citizens as part of the humanitarian response in southern Syria.

On Thursday, the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, in coordination with the Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army and under Royal directives, dispatched a Jordanian aid convoy of food supplies to the Syrian Arab Republic.

Hussein Al-Shibli, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, said earlier that the Jordanian convoy, consisting of 14 trucks, was accompanied by a Qatari aid convoy of 27 trucks carrying food and medical supplies, as part of Jordanian-Qatari support and a joint Arab effort to extend a helping hand to sisterly Syria in facing the difficult humanitarian conditions caused by the recent tragic events in Sweida Governorate.

Al-Shibli added that coordination was made with the Syrian government to allow the entry of aid through the Jaber/Nasib border crossing, in preparation for its delivery through the Syrian Arab Red Crescent and distribution to beneficiaries in Sweida Governorate—including Sweida city, western Sweida areas, and shelters for displaced persons in Daraa and Rural Damascus governorates.

He noted that the Jordanian-Qatari aid convoys are an urgent response to the needs currently witnessed in Sweida city, other parts of the governorate, and the displacement shelters of those who fled the tragic events that occurred in the governorate months ago.
