Maariv quoted an Israeli Air Force official as saying, “No one who was in the building in Doha could have survived.”

Meanwhile, Israeli Broadcasting reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decided to carry out the Doha attack despite objections from security officials regarding its timing.

For his part, Israel’s ambassador to the U.S. said that Tel Aviv would continue targeting Hamas leaders, adding: “If the Doha strike missed any targets, it will hit them next time.”

On Tuesday, Israel attempted to assassinate Hamas’s political leaders in an airstrike on Qatar, thereby expanding the scope of its military operations in the Middle East. Washington described the attack as unilateral and not serving U.S. or Israeli interests.

Hamas said that six people were killed in Tuesday’s surprise attack in Doha, including the son of Khalil al-Hayya, the movement’s most influential figure abroad.

Qatar condemned the attack as a “flagrant violation of all international laws and norms and a serious threat to the security” of its population.

Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that the strike was carried out in response to deadly Hamas shootings in Jerusalem on Monday, which killed six people, as well as another attack on soldiers in Gaza.

Qatar, along with Egypt and the United States, has been mediating in the Gaza war between Israel and Hamas, although ceasefire negotiations have been stalled for months.

Several Arab countries condemned the attack, while U.S. President Donald Trump and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz were among world leaders who voiced criticism of the strike.
