TEL AVIV – On Wednesday, a study was published showing a
significant increase in the number of Israelis using “sleeping pills, drugs,
alcohol, and
addictive medications” since October 7, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

In the study released by the Israeli newspaper Yedioth
Ahronoth, researchers examined substance abuse after
October 7, affecting 420
Israelis aged 18 and above.
The study revealed a noticeable rise in the
consumption of addictive substances. Among the participants, 16 percent reported a slight
increase in nicotine use, while 10 percent increased
alcohol consumption.
Additionally, 5.5 percent reported increased cannabis use. The study also
highlighted a significant increase in the use of prescription drugs that can
lead to addiction, with 11 percent using sedatives, 10 percent using sleeping
pills, as well as 8 percent using painkillers.
