According to a statement by the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the meeting—scheduled for Wednesday evening—aims to enhance consultation and coordination on ways to support regional security and stability.

The region has witnessed an unprecedented escalation since late February between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other, following a series of airstrikes targeting prominent Iranian sites and figures. The strikes resulted in the deaths of several senior political and military leaders in Tehran.

In response, Iran launched waves of ballistic missiles and drones targeting sites inside Israel and across the region.

The escalation in the Middle East has prompted mixed international reactions, ranging from calls to contain the crisis to warnings about its potential repercussions on regional stability and global energy markets, particularly amid rising military tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.
