‘Only reason IOF is still in Gaza is to bring back the hostages’

TEL AVIV – Carmi Gillon, the former head of Shin Bet, stated that the war in Gaza has 'ended,' and the only reason IsraeliOccupation Forces (IOF) are still in Gaza is to "bring back the hostages." In an interview with Israel’s Channel 12, he further stated that Hamas would continue to control Gaza as long as no one else could. Gillon predicted that Al-Qassam would resume rocket fire after up to six years. He underscored that the events of October 7, 2023, which included the surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, would not be repeated, Al-Ghad reported.

Regarding Israel's failure on October 7, Gillon, who directed Shin Bet from 1994 to 1996, expressed surprise, claiming that no one could have predicted such an outcome.
