Netanyahu’s remarks came shortly after U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in Tel Aviv, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech to the Israeli Knesset before heading to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
Trump and Netanyahu are set to hold a meeting at the Prime Minister’s office in the Knesset, meet with families of the prisoners, and then travel to Egypt to sign the agreement to end the war in Gaza.
Last Thursday, Trump announced that Israel and Hamas had reached an agreement on the first phase of his plan for a ceasefire and prisoner exchange, following indirect negotiations in Sharm El-Sheikh with the participation of Turkey, Egypt, and Qatar, under U.S. supervision.
