The text of the joint statement read: "The IDF will continue to act decisively to thwart threats facing our soldiers and civilians, destroy infrastructure, and maintain the security zone in southern Lebanon," according to The Times of Israel.
They emphasized at the conclusion of their statement that "the security of Israeli civilians and IDF forces will remain paramount, without any compromise."
This comes after US President Donald Trump publicly criticized the Israeli fighting against Hezbollah, describing it as overly aggressive, and at a time when Iran continues to insist that a full Israeli withdrawal is a condition of its agreement with Washington.
A temporary agreement signed between the United States and Iran called for a halt to the US-Israeli war on Iran, an end to the fighting across all fronts, including Lebanon, and a guarantee by all parties of "Lebanon's territorial integrity and sovereignty."
Israel rejects calls to withdraw its forces from southern Lebanon, where it launched an offensive in March in response to rocket fire from the Iranian-backed Lebanese group Hezbollah. The Israeli attacks and destruction of villages have resulted in thousands of casualties and triggered a displacement crisis.
