According to Russia Today (RT), the new negotiating session in Washington between the Lebanese and Israeli delegations will convene this afternoon and is scheduled to span two days.

The Lebanese delegation is headed by Ambassador Simon Karam, who carries Lebanon’s four primary demands:

First: A ceasefire that extends across the entirety of Lebanese territory.

Second: Following the ceasefire, the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from Lebanon.

Third: The security situation, in light of the escalating Israeli bombardment and Hezbollah's weaponry.

Fourth: Reconstruction, the return of displaced persons, and the repatriation of prisoners.

Notably, the Lebanese delegation carries these core demands to every negotiating session, covering both the security and political tracks.

The negotiations were on the verge of collapse just hours before their scheduled start due to the violent Israeli escalation on Monday morning and threats to strike Beirut.

However, the personal and sudden intervention of President Donald Trump achieved a diplomatic breakthrough. On Monday evening, he announced an immediate, partial ceasefire agreement under which "Israel" commits to refraining from bombing Beirut and its suburbs, in exchange for Hezbollah halting its rocket attacks.

This announcement, along with the phone calls conducted by Trump with the involved parties, has provided negotiators from both countries currently present in Washington with an opportunity to attempt to draft a final framework agreement during today's sessions.
