Lebanese President Joseph Aoun reaffirmed on Thursday the country's commitment to disarming all armed groups, including Hezbollah, and transferring their weapons to the Lebanese Army. His remarks came a day after Hezbollah’s Deputy Secretary-General, Naim Qassem, claimed that disarming the group would "serve" Israel.

In a speech delivered at the Ministry of Defense on the occasion of Army Day, President Aoun reiterated Lebanon’s stance on “asserting the authority of the Lebanese state across all its territories, withdrawing weapons from all armed factions—including Hezbollah—and handing them over to the Lebanese Army.”
He called on all political parties to “seize this historic opportunity,” adding, “We are pushing decisively to ensure that weapons are exclusively in the hands of the army and security forces.”
