The Israeli military announced that it is carrying out airstrikes against Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon, just hours before the start of a third round of U.S.-mediated talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington.

In a post on X, the Israeli military said it had begun targeting Hezbollah infrastructure in several areas of southern Lebanon, following evacuation warnings issued for a number of villages in the south and in the Bekaa region in eastern Lebanon.
Lebanon and Israel are set to begin a new round of peace talks in Washington on Thursday as the current ceasefire approaches its expiration, despite continued deadly violence.
On the eve of the negotiations, Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that 22 people, including eight children, were killed as Israel intensified its air campaign.
Lebanon’s official National News Agency reported that Israeli strikes targeted approximately 40 locations in southern and eastern Lebanon.
The most recent meeting between Lebanon and Israel took place on 23 April at the White House, where U.S. President Donald Trump announced a three-week extension of the ceasefire, expressing optimism about reaching a historic agreement.
