According to the report, the Security Cabinet, in a meeting held late Thursday, approved the formation of a small ministerial team to carry out the second stage of the ceasefire terms in the enclave.

The team includes, among others, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Justice Minister Yariv Levin, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

The broadcaster did not clarify the measures that will be included in the second phase of the plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the war.

A ceasefire agreement between Tel Aviv and Hamas put an end to a two-year U.S.-backed Israeli campaign in Gaza that began on October 8, 2023, which resulted in more than 69,000 Palestinian deaths and over 170,000 injuries—mostly women and children. The United Nations has estimated the cost of reconstruction in the Strip at around USD 70 billion.

Despite the agreement, Israel continues to carry out multiple violations that have led to the killing and injuring of hundreds of Palestinians and continues to impose restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
