Caroline Wilmen, the project coordinator for Doctors Without Borders in Gaza, stated that Israel, despite the ceasefire agreement, continues to use humanitarian aid as a pressure tool against Palestinians.

According to the organization’s official website, Wilmen confirmed in a press statement on Sunday that humanitarian aid sent to the Gaza Strip should not be tied to any political conditions.
She explained that Israeli attacks on the Strip have significantly decreased since the ceasefire began, but the Israeli army carried out a large-scale attack on October 19, continuing its almost daily gunfire.
She pointed out that the humanitarian situation in Gaza has not improved much, with shortages of water and shelter persisting, and hundreds of thousands still living in tents as winter approaches.
Wilmen noted that the organization’s teams continue to document severe malnutrition among children under five and pregnant women, emphasizing that the nutritional situation remains concerning despite slight improvements.
She added that providing daily health services remains extremely difficult despite the ceasefire, saying, “Palestinians in Gaza have been living under the terror of mass extermination for two years. We urgently need aid just to ensure people have a mattress and blanket in their tents. Rebuilding Gaza will take a long time, but so far we have not reached even the minimum basic humanitarian standards in the Strip.”
