Fars News Agency quoted a senior naval official in the IRGC, Mohammad Akbarzadeh, stating: "The Strait of Hormuz is currently under the full control of the Revolutionary Guard's naval forces."

This declaration follows remarks made by U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday, in which he asserted that the U.S. Navy is capable of escorting oil tankers through the Strait "if necessary."

Israel and the United States have been conducting airstrikes against Iran since Saturday, resulting in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Tehran has retaliated by striking Israel and regional countries with missiles and drones.

Iran has enforced a naval blockade on vessel transit through the Strait of Hormuz, specifically targeting oil tankers attempting to navigate the strategic waterway.

On Sunday, Hezbollah launched several rockets from Lebanon targeting northern Israel in response to Khamenei’s assassination. This escalation has dragged Lebanon into an open war with Israel, which has carried out devastating raids on southern Lebanon and the Dahiyeh (southern suburbs) of Beirut. — (Agencies)
