In a post on X, Pezeshkian said:
“Taking into account the demands of friendly regional countries to respond to the U.S. president’s proposal for negotiations, I have instructed the foreign minister to prepare the conditions for fair and equitable talks… provided that an atmosphere free of threats and unreasonable expectations is available.”

On Monday, U.S. President Donald Trump said that talks with Iran are underway amid rising tensions, adding, “We want to see an agreement through negotiations with Iran.”

He told reporters at the White House, “We have ships heading toward Iran now—big ships… and we are holding talks with Iran. We will see how things go,” warning that “bad things” would happen if Iran failed to reach an agreement.

The website Axios reported, citing two informed sources, that U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff is expected to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday in Istanbul to discuss a potential nuclear agreement.

Reuters also quoted a diplomat as saying that several regional countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Egypt, are expected to participate in the meeting. (Agencies)
