AMMAN — Jordanian fencer Eyas Al-Zamer withdrew from the World Junior Fencing Championship in Dubai after being drawn to play against an Israeli player, according to Khaberni. اضافة اعلان

Zamer’s withdrawal comes just a week after the Kuwaiti fencer Mohamed Al-Fadli withdrew from the World Fencing Championships in Dubai, also because he refused to face an Israeli player.

Social media users, including BDS Jordan on Twitter, praised Zamer for his decision. BDS Jordan said in a Tweet that “the sacrifice of athletes, in order to … remind the world … of the importance of rejecting (Israel’s) occupation and crimes, deserves to be celebrated and welcomed.”
