Russia's Alina Korneeva defeated her American counterpart Iva Jovic in straight sets in the Round of 32 of the Montreal Tennis Tournament.

This victory marks the biggest of Korneeva's career by defeating the world No. 16, qualifying her for the Round of 16 in the WTA 1000 tournament.

The Russian will face the winner of the match between fourth-seeded American Coco Gauff and Greece's Maria Sakkari.
