The hosts went ahead by three goals in the first half, through David Garcia in the 6th minute, Roger Guedes in the 22nd minute, and Ahmad Alaa in the 41st minute, before Hazem Ahmad added a fourth goal in the 73rd minute, while Al-Faisaly's goals came from Saidou Simpore in the 46th minute, Mohammad Haddad in the 78th minute, and Ahmad Ersan in the 84th minute.
Al-Faisaly plays its second match in the tournament against Oman's Al-Nahda on October 14, at 9:15 PM at Amman International Stadium.
Returning to the match itself, Al-Faisaly coach Tarek Mostafa entered the fixture relying on Abdullah Al-Fakhouri in goal, and Anas Badawi, Muhannad Khairallah, Ihsan Haddad, Mohammad Haddad, Saidou Simpore, Fadl Haykal, Salah Al-Yahyai, Majdi Al-Attar, Ahmad Ersan, and Anas Al-Awadat.
On the other side, Al-Rayyan coach Vicente Moreno relied primarily on Mahmoud Abu Nada in goal, and Julien De Sart, David Garcia, Jassim Jaber, Roger Guedes, Youssef Aiman, Ahmad Al-Janahi, Otavio Monteiro, Ahmad Alaa, Daoud Diakite, and Gregory Favero.
The hosts took the initiative in the early minutes, circulating the ball and probing for gaps in Al-Faisaly's defense, before Ersan struck a powerful shot from inside the box that went over Abu Nada's goal in the 4th minute, while Garcia opened the scoring for Al-Rayyan after rising to meet a corner kick and heading it into the right side of Al-Fakhouri's goal in the 6th minute.
Ersan came back with another powerful shot that Abu Nada parried in two attempts in the 18th minute, before the hosts added a second goal, after Guedes struck a grounded shot that rebounded off the right post of Al-Fakhouri's goal, with the same player following up to put it into the net in the 22nd minute.
Guedes fired a powerful shot from outside the box that Al-Fakhouri brilliantly saved in the 27th minute, before the same player returned to strike a powerful free kick that went just wide of Al-Fakhouri's goal in the 37th minute.
Ahmad Alaa succeeded in adding Al-Rayyan's third goal, heading a cross into the right side of Al-Fakhouri's goal in the 41st minute, before Simpore responded, receiving a ball in front of goal after individual effort from Ersan, cutting the deficit and scoring "the Blue's" first goal in the 46th minute, with the first half ending 3-1 in Al-Rayyan's favor.
The score remained unchanged until the middle of the second half, amid attempts from both sides without much real danger, before Al-Rayyan's striker found himself clean through on Al-Faisaly's goal, only for the intervention of Al-Fakhouri and Haddad to prevent a fourth goal.
Al-Faisaly responded a few seconds later through Mohammad Haddad, who received a well-placed ball from Al-Awadat inside the six-yard box, but Abu Nada saved it in the 71st minute, before Hazem Ahmad succeeded in extending Al-Rayyan's lead and adding the fourth goal, receiving the ball inside the box and firing it straight into the middle of Al-Fakhouri's goal in the 73rd minute.
Mohammad Haddad narrowed the gap again following a pass from Ersan, scoring Al-Faisaly's second goal in the 78th minute, before Ersan added the third goal in the 84th minute from a free kick taken to Abu Nada's left, but "the Blue's" attempts weren't enough to salvage an equalizer, and the match ended in a 4-3 win for Qatar's Al-Rayyan.
