A press report stated on Tuesday that renewing the contract of Brazilian international Vinícius Júnior will be at the top of Real Madrid's priorities this summer, though financial terms could present a significant obstacle to negotiations.

Vinícius has played for Real Madrid's first team since 2018, with his current contract set to expire in June 2027.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, no extension agreement has been reached so far. However, a meeting is scheduled following the conclusion of the player's vacation—after his participation with Brazil in the 2026 World Cup—to discuss extending his deal.
The report explained that the primary hurdle in renewing Vinícius's contract lies in the financial aspect; while the club is willing to raise his salary, the offer falls short of the amount requested by the Brazilian winger.
It noted that Vinícius currently earns approximately €15 million net, and the club is prepared to increase it to €20 million. However, Real Madrid is unwilling to pay the signing bonus Vinícius desires. This remains the core of the issue, as the forward insists on receiving a bonus that would align his total earnings closely with Kylian Mbappé's salary—a request Los Blancos have already rejected on multiple occasions.
The newspaper emphasized that if negotiations between the two parties stall, the player will be free to negotiate with any club starting in January and could potentially leave on a free transfer next summer—a scenario Real Madrid does not even want to consider.
Vinícius's first appearance for Real Madrid in the 2026–2027 La Liga season is expected to come in their match against Espanyol.
