Jordan will host the World Wrestling Championship for Masters and Veterans, taking place at Princess Sumaya Hall at the Hussein Youth City, from October 6 to 11, with broad participation of around 527 athletes representing 50 countries from across the world.

Hosting this world championship affirms the Kingdom's growing standing on the map of world wrestling, and the confidence it enjoys in hosting and organizing major tournaments amid the current circumstances and crises roiling the region, confirming that Jordan is regarded as a safe destination trusted by all.
The total number of participants in the world championship is expected to reach around 3,000 people, including competing athletes, their accompanying families, and spectators, as the federation has, over the past period, organized a tourism plan for those coming to Jordan, including visits to sites such as Al-Maghtas (Baptism Site), Petra, the Roman amphitheater, and the Dead Sea.
The championship represents a golden opportunity for spectators and the new generation of young and up-and-coming athletes to recall the glories of past wrestling champions, learn about their careers and experiences, choose their sporting role models, and follow in their footsteps on the journey toward achievement and excellence. The competition also highlights the health and physical fitness aspect of athletes' lives, whose ages range from 35 to 60 years old, and the dedication to fitness, body care, and continued participation in sport that accompanies their careers, in an inspiring message affirming that age is just a number, that champions' passion never grows old, and that true glory remains present on the mat no matter how many years pass.
The championship features participation from 50 countries: Jordan (host country), Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Egypt, Finland, France, Britain, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Iran, Iraq, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Saudi Arabia, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Moldova, Mexico, Mongolia, Namibia, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Pakistan, Romania, South Africa, Russia, Serbia, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, the United States of America, Belarus, Croatia, Spain, and Estonia.
In this context, President of the Jordanian and Asian Wrestling Federations, Eng. Mohammad Al-Awamleh, affirmed that Jordan looks forward to organizing an exceptional and distinguished edition of the World Veterans Wrestling Championship, one that befits Jordan's name and sporting standing, and reflects the great confidence the International Federation places in the Kingdom and its ability to host major sporting events.
He added: "We are facing an important global commitment, and the scale of participation in this championship reflects the standing wrestling has reached in Jordan, and the confidence the Kingdom now enjoys in organizing international championships. We look forward to delivering an exceptional edition in every detail and at every level."
He continued: "We recognize the scale of the responsibility placed on us, and we have been working since early on to secure all the requirements needed for the championship's success, in cooperation and coordination with various national bodies and institutions, ensuring the best conditions for delegations, athletes, referees, and all participants. Our goal is for this championship to become a model for organizing world championships, and to leave a positive impression on all of Jordan's guests."
Al-Awamleh noted that the importance of the championship is not limited to the sporting side alone, but also represents an opportunity to promote Jordan and showcase its tourism, cultural, and heritage assets, affirming that participating delegations will find in the Kingdom a safe environment with ideal conditions, alongside many destinations and landmarks that reflect Jordan's history and civilization.
