Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Madani, muezzin of the Grand Mosque and one of the members of its call-to-prayer team, passed away on Monday, according to what a number of staff at the two holy mosques and those interested in matters of the adhan shared on social media platforms.

Platforms saw audio and video clips of Sheikh Madani's call to prayer and takbeer at the Grand Mosque circulate widely, while a hashtag bearing his name spread alongside news of his death.
One of the voices of the mosque's call-to-prayer team
Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani was one of 24 primary muezzins at the Grand Mosque, with six of them rotating daily to give the call to prayer for the five daily prayers, alongside the first Fajr call.
Sheikh Madani was known for the Fajr call to prayer and performing the takbeer, and also carried out the role of "tableegh" (relaying the imam's prayer movements) from the mosque's call-to-prayer team.
Memory of his first call to prayer
Sheikh Madani had previously recalled, during an appearance on the "Ashraqat" podcast covering the call-to-prayer team of the two holy mosques, memories of the first call to prayer he gave at the Grand Mosque, explaining that he cried when he saw pilgrims circling the Kaaba while listening to his voice.
He said, asking humbly: "Who am I, that my voice should rise in this sacred place?"
During the appearance, Sheikh Madani also discussed the differences between the Meccan and Medinan schools in the manner of performing the call to prayer.
