European airlines have begun resuming scheduled flights to and from Jordan, marking a return of activity to the Kingdom’s international air transport sector, according to Dhaifallah Al-Freijat, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Jordan’s Civil Aviation Regulatory Commission.

Hungarian airline Wizz Air will lead the resumption of European flights, with its first service to Queen Alia International Airport scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, operating two flights per week after a suspension lasting several months.
Al-Freijat said the first flight is expected to arrive with a high passenger load, reflecting demand for travel to Jordan and supporting tourism and commercial activity.
Wizz Air will be followed by Ryanair, which is scheduled to resume operations at the end of October, connecting Jordan with four major European destinations and expanding the Kingdom’s air connectivity while providing additional low-cost travel options.
Al-Freijat said the return of European carriers followed technical efforts and negotiations led by the commission with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
These efforts resulted in Jordan being removed from EASA’s Conflict Zone Information Bulletin and the withdrawal of its recommendation advising European airlines against flying to Jordan. Airlines will instead be required to conduct their own risk assessments before operating flights.
Al-Freijat reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to continued coordination with international partners and global airlines to maintain the highest aviation safety and security standards and attract additional international carriers to Jordan’s airports in the coming period.
EASA had withdrawn its previous recommendation in August advising airlines to avoid Jordanian airspace, while advising operators to exercise caution until September 30.
