The Arab League General Secretariat strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by an Israeli government official and a group of settlers under the protection of Israeli occupation forces.

In a statement, the Arab League reaffirmed its rejection of any violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa Mosque and Islamic holy sites, or any attempt to alter their existing historical and legal status. It also stressed the importance of respecting the Hashemite custodianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
The Arab League also condemned the continued raids, incursions, and arrest campaigns in Palestinian cities and towns, as well as the arrests, searches, destruction of homes, and attacks against Palestinians in the town of Beit Duqqu, northwest of Jerusalem.
It said such practices constitute a serious escalation and a violation of international law and international humanitarian law.
The Arab League further rejected the closure of the Ibrahimi Mosque to Muslim worshippers and the banning of the call to prayer, stressing its opposition to any measures that restrict freedom of worship or seek to alter the status quo of holy sites.
It called on the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities, halt these violations, protect the Palestinian people and their holy sites, and preserve the existing historical and legal status of Jerusalem in a manner that helps prevent further escalation and promotes de-escalation, stability, and a just and comprehensive peace.
