Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Monday threatened to use new weapons and target locations that have not previously been attacked if the United States launches a new attack on Iran.

Iranian news agency Fars quoted IRGC spokesman Hossein Mohibi as saying that Iran would certainly change the weapons it uses and the geography of the conflict if subjected to renewed aggression, stressing that Tehran is prepared for a long-term confrontation.
The IRGC spokesman added that any new US attack would be met with an Iranian response using means and methods different from those employed previously.
On February 28, Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Tehran and other Iranian cities. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting Israel as well as US bases and assets in the region, while restricting maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.
On June 18, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at ending the war in the region across all fronts. Under the memorandum, the two sides were scheduled to hold negotiations over a 60-day period, which ended on August 17, to reach a final agreement. However, the fate of the talks remains unclear following a series of recent escalations between the two countries.
