The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said Monday, citing military authorities, that an oil tanker was targeted by a projectile while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, injuring two crew members.

UKMTO said the injuries were minor and that the vessel resumed its journey toward its next port of call, according to the report.
Earlier on Monday, shipping data showed that 12 commodity vessels had transited the Strait of Hormuz at the beginning of the current week, compared with 35 vessels during the same period the previous week, amid continued tensions in the Gulf and a standoff between the United States and Iran.
Visible shipping traffic through the strait, which handled roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas supplies before the war, has fallen to extremely low levels.
However, Middle Eastern producers continue to export oil using tankers that reportedly switch off their tracking transponders while passing through the waterway.
