The headquarters warned Washington and countries in the region against any military action against the Islamic Republic, saying U.S. bases and interests across the region would be subject to “continuous, effective and painful” attacks if what it called a “mistake” were committed against Iran.
In a statement, the headquarters said, according to the Iranian account, that Washington was seeking to compensate for what Tehran considers military failures and achieve gains through “misinformation.” It also accused the United States of preparing new measures against Iran in coordination with some regional countries during an upcoming meeting in a European country.
The statement said any regional country that adopts what it called a “double-standard policy” toward Tehran or participates in U.S. military action against Iran would be considered a partner in the aggression. It warned that such countries would then be unable to count on restraint from the Iranian armed forces.
The Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters is the highest body responsible for joint operational military command within Iran’s armed forces and operates under the direct supervision of the country’s senior military leadership, including the General Staff of the Armed Forces and the Supreme Leader.
The statement did not specify the nature of the U.S. measures it said Washington was planning or identify the countries covered by the warning. The statement comes amid rising regional tensions and an exchange of threats between Iran and the United States.
