Speaking in a radio interview on Sunday, he clarified that what is under consideration is the imposition of fees on merchants who use the service for commercial purposes.

Abu Shihab explained that the maximum transfer limit via CliQ is 10,000 dinars, depending on the bank, which sets the customer’s ceiling based on financial solvency and the nature of their work. At the same time, he emphasized that banks facilitate transactions for clients whose circumstances meet their criteria.

He also revealed a project to launch CliQ Plus next year to support instant international transfers, which would help travelers.

Abu Shihab noted that the number of CliQ subscribers has reached 4.62 million clients, with 141 million transactions recorded in 2024, rising to 163 million transactions in August of this year.

The value of transfers reached about 17.3 billion dinars by the end of 2024 and is expected to hit 25 billion dinars by the end of the current year.

Regarding erroneous transfers, Abu Shihab stressed that in cases of accidental transfers, the bank must be notified to return the funds in accordance with proper procedures. He emphasized that individuals should not directly contact recipients of mistaken transfers to prevent accounts from being exploited for suspicious purposes.

He further underlined the importance of specifying the reason for a transfer—whether family-related or commercial—during the transaction process, and ensuring the full name of the beneficiary is correct to safeguard all parties.
