The Iranian Proposal
Iranian news agencies close to the regime reported that the ten-point plan remains unchanged, and that Iran adheres to all its previously announced terms. The next phase involves awaiting a formal U.S. response while maintaining communication regarding the proposal.
Iran’s demands include:
Guarantees to end the war.
The withdrawal of all U.S. forces from its surroundings.
Lifting the naval blockade and releasing frozen assets.
Payment of reparations and the lifting of sanctions.
A cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon.
Establishing a new mechanism for the Strait of Hormuz under its control as part of future arrangements.
According to the Tasnim news agency, the United States suggested a two-month ceasefire, while Iran emphasized that all issues must be resolved within 30 days. Tehran rejects a mere extension of the ceasefire, calling instead for a complete termination of the war within a specific timeframe.
Trump’s Response
Writing on his "Truth Social" platform, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would review the Iranian proposal soon but expressed his belief that the plan would not be acceptable as it stands. Trump remarked that Iran "has not yet paid a high enough price," and when asked about the possibility of resuming attacks, he noted that the military option remains on the table.
Speaking to reporters, Trump reiterated that the Iranians desire a deal but voiced skepticism regarding a negotiated settlement. He described the Iranian leadership as "very divided" despite a general desire for an agreement. Trump presented two options: military escalation or reaching a deal, emphasizing that his priority is to avoid a renewal of attacks.
Trump also announced he would receive a briefing on military options from Admiral Brad Cooper, Commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), who recently visited the aircraft carrier USS Tripoli in the Arabian Sea.
The Israeli Position
Regarding Israel’s stance, the Hebrew newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that Israel is closely monitoring the developments in the Washington-Tehran talks, while preparing for the potential resumption of hostilities should negotiations fail.
The report indicated that any new U.S. strikes might be coordinated with Israel, which has prepared additional targets related to infrastructure and energy. These targets also include military sites identified since the ceasefire was announced.
