Despite the House passing the resolution to halt the war, it will likely remain a mere symbolic step, given that President Trump is expected to use his veto power against it.
Trump’s stance came in a post on his "Truth Social" platform, where he stated: “I caught Iran in the trap of defeat and left it reeling on the brink of collapse, until it became ready to offer concession after concession. For the first time in decades, it is showing deep respect for the United States and its president—namely, myself.
Yet, the Senate chose to hold an absurd, poorly-timed vote on the War Powers Resolution, sending a message to the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism that the United States resents what I am doing to them and is demanding that I stop! By doing so, they have provided aid and comfort to the enemy.
Four Republican losers sided with the Democrats, leaving the Iranians to wonder in astonishment, 'What does all of this mean?'
These senators have complicated my mission and made it harder, but I will accomplish what I promised, regardless of the circumstances and by any means possible; I always finish what I start!”
Yesterday, Trump also wrote on "Truth Social": "Despite their protests and false statements to the contrary, along with the drums of Fake News, which is doing its best to portray the American victory as small and insignificant as possible, Iran has fully and absolutely agreed to the highest levels of nuclear inspection well into the distant future (to infinity!!!)."
Yesterday, the U.S. Senate adopted a "non-binding" resolution calling on the administration of President Donald Trump to halt the war with Iran.
