Pezeshkian: Iran Does Not Seek Nuclear Weapons But Will Not Renounce the Right to Enrich Uranium
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that his country does not seek to acquire nuclear weapons, but it will not renounce its right to enrich uranium either. His comments came just before Tehran and Washington were set to begin negotiations in Switzerland this Sunday, within the framework of the understanding to end the war.اضافة اعلان

"What the United States requests is that Iran does not develop an atomic bomb. This is nothing new, and we can also confirm in writing that we have no intention of developing an atomic bomb," Pezeshkian said.

He added, according to the official presidency website: "However, we will not give up our right to enrichment, and the other party has no choice but to accept this right."

In the same context, Iran confirmed through its Foreign Ministry spokesperson that the situation in Lebanon—where a confrontation is taking place between Israel and Hezbollah—will be the "main subject" of the talks with the United States taking place in Switzerland on Sunday, under the memorandum of understanding to end the war in the Middle East.

"The Zionist regime continues to violate its commitment in Lebanon; this matter will be the main subject in today's talks," spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei stated, according to a video clip distributed by the IRNA news agency.

He added, "Also on the agenda is the issue of making Iran's frozen or restricted assets available, in addition to discussions related to issuing the necessary licenses for the sale of Iranian oil."
