Brigadier General Raed Al-Assaf, Director of the Traffic Department, told Public Security Radio that 38,000 vehicles underwent technical inspection on the campaign’s first day, which covered all regions of the Kingdom with the participation of specialized teams from traffic departments, the Royal Department for Environmental Protection, and technical crews from the Maintenance Department.
He explained that around 30,000 vehicles were found to be in good technical condition and safe for driving, while observations were recorded for 8,000 vehicles that require maintenance.
Brig. Gen. Al-Assaf added that text messages (SMS) were sent to the owners of vehicles found with deficiencies, instructing them to visit Traffic Department branches or Licensing Department offices during official working hours, or to head to the newly introduced mobile evening inspection stations this year after fixing the identified issues.
He emphasized that the campaign does not involve confiscating vehicle licenses; instead, drivers receive notifications to correct any faults and follow up on repairs. Al-Assaf praised the high level of public cooperation with field teams, noting that many drivers voluntarily stopped their vehicles to request inspections — a gesture that reflects strong community awareness and responsibility.
