In the presence of Mousa Shteiwi, President of the Jordanian Economic and Social Council (ESC), and Nisreen Barakat, Executive Director of the Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF), Hawari stated that the ESC remains a national landmark and a platform for responsible and constructive dialogue. He commended the Council’s significant efforts in managing in-depth discussions, particularly concerning the actuarial study, noting that it provided an advanced model for engaging various stakeholders and listening to diverse viewpoints with a sincere national spirit.
Hawari highlighted that the Council’s role is not merely advisory but a pivotal national one that contributes to building trust and formulating more balanced and sustainable decisions that serve the interests of the nation and its citizens.
Regarding the Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF), Hawari described it as an intellectual powerhouse that has served for years as a vital reference in economic analysis and knowledge-based policymaking. Since its inception, the forum has played a prominent role in providing deep studies and strategic visions that support decision-makers and present economic issues objectively.
For his part, Mousa Shteiwi emphasized that the 2026 draft amendment to the Social Security Law is part of a comprehensive reform aimed at balancing the financial sustainability of the institution with the expansion of social protection for citizens. He explained that the project is based on the outcomes of an extensive national dialogue involving various parties, focusing on three main pillars: Governance, Financial Sustainability, and Enhancing Social Protection and Justice, in line with national directives and the Economic Modernization Vision.
Meanwhile, Nisreen Barakat stated that the amended draft law is a significant step in the path of economic and social reform, given its pivotal role in strengthening social safety nets and ensuring the sustainability of Jordan's insurance system.
Barakat stressed that the importance of this project extends beyond financial aspects to its alignment with labor market shifts—especially amid economic transformations such as the rise of informal labor, freelancing, and flexible jobs. She pointed out that any legislation failing to keep pace with these changes might limit its effectiveness and weaken its ability to achieve its goals.
