Speaking to Al-Mamlaka on Thursday, the ministry noted that the campaign includes sending 6 million mobile text messages by the end of January, in addition to sending awareness messages via government email through the Sanad application, in coordination with the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship.
The ministry added that the awareness materials will be broadcast on six radio stations, in addition to publishing awareness messages on the social media platforms of partner ministries and government institutions, environmental associations, local communities, electronic news websites, and environmental activists.
Earlier this month, the government launched the National Executive Program for the Cleanliness Strategy and Reducing Random Littering for 2026–2027, reflecting a comprehensive national commitment to protecting public health and the environment by improving levels of public cleanliness across all governorates of the Kingdom.
The executive program is based on four main pillars addressing the phenomenon of random littering through an integrated system of regulatory, technical, supervisory, and awareness measures. These measures were designed based on a realistic assessment of needs and challenges in various areas and rely on a comprehensive approach that integrates environmental and development policies, promotes sustainability principles, conserves resources, improves citizens’ quality of life, strengthens Jordan’s position as a tourist destination, reduces waste management costs, and stimulates the circular economy.
Minister of Environment and Head of the Steering Committee to Reduce Random Littering Ayman Suleiman said in a previous statement that the executive program includes the launch of a dedicated electronic system for environmental violations, involving the installation of cameras—50 in Amman and 250 in the rest of the governorates—which will be mobile. He explained that the value of fines ranges from JD 50 to JD 500.
