The directorate emphasized the need to ensure vehicles are in sound mechanical condition, particularly windshield wipers, defogging systems, and brakes.
Drivers were also advised to avoid roads experiencing rising water levels and to stop in safe locations off the roadway in cases of reduced visibility due to fog formation or during dusty wind gusts.
In addition, citizens were urged not to venture out except when necessary, in order to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
Deep Low-Pressure System
The Kingdom will be affected late Monday into Tuesday by a low-pressure system centered over the island of Cyprus, bringing very cold weather and partly to fully cloudy skies. Rain is expected to fall over northern regions and gradually extend to central areas, with rainfall at times heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, which may lead to flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas. In the late-night hours, precipitation may extend to limited parts of the southwestern regions. Westerly winds will become active, with strong gusts reaching speeds of 60–70 km/h.
In its report, the Meteorological Department warned of the risk of overnight flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas in northern and central regions, including the northern and central Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea. It also cautioned against strong winds and accompanying powerful gusts, reduced horizontal visibility due to dust in desert areas, and poor nighttime visibility caused by fog and low clouds touching the ground over mountainous areas. The department advised exercising caution due to the risk of slippery roads at the onset of rainfall, securing loose objects, and avoiding crossing water accumulations and flood-prone valleys.
