Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid said Sunday that the time had come to put an end to “Jewish terrorism” in the occupied West Bank, criticizing the Israeli government for failing to address settler attacks.

In a post on X, Lapid said the West Bank had witnessed “another Saturday of violent riots,” describing those responsible as “a moral stain on Israel.”
“The government’s failure to deal with them is a national disgrace that is causing enormous damage to our standing in the world,” Lapid said. “It is time to put an end to Jewish terrorism in the West Bank.”
Lapid’s remarks came after dozens of Israeli settlers attacked Palestinians on Saturday in the towns of Qusra and Jalud in the Nablus governorate in the northern occupied West Bank.
Footage released by Israeli media showed masked settlers traveling in pickup trucks during the attacks. Witnesses said Israeli forces fired tear gas at Palestinians and detained several of them, while none of the settlers involved in the attacks were arrested.
The attacks in Qusra and Jalud left nine Palestinians and two foreign journalists injured, according to Palestinian local sources.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the incidents as “criminal acts of violence,” while President Isaac Herzog called them “a crossing of the red line” and “a stain on Israel’s face.”
According to the Palestinian Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli forces and settlers carried out 2,256 attacks against Palestinians, their land and property during July, including 798 attacks carried out by settlers.
