The PSD highlighted the risk of drowning incidents, especially those occurring in unsafe or unauthorized swimming areas. It warned against leaving children unsupervised near water bodies, as such negligence can lead to tragic but preventable outcomes.
Authorities also stressed the danger of wildfires, particularly in natural areas, caused by improper behavior such as discarding cigarette butts or failing to properly extinguish campfires. These actions pose a serious threat to both the environment and public safety.
Motorists were urged to drive cautiously, especially on highways and external roads. The PSD warned against reckless driving behaviors including speeding, improper overtaking, and ignoring traffic signs, which have led to multiple accidents during the holiday period. Drivers were also advised to inspect their vehicles, particularly cooling systems and tires, before setting out to avoid accidents or breakdowns.
The public was also cautioned against prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, with recommendations to wear appropriate clothing, stay hydrated, and never leave children in closed vehicles, even for short periods due to the extreme danger this poses to their lives.
In rural and agricultural areas, the PSD warned of the potential presence of reptiles or poisonous insects, urging citizens to choose safe picnic spots and to carry first aid kits.
Finally, the PSD called on everyone to act responsibly and follow safety instructions, noting that past incidents caused significant loss of life and property. Security personnel will maintain their field presence to ensure a safe and incident-free holiday season.
